Epidemiology and scale-free networks

On a epidemiologic simulation using a virtual Portland, the results point to the conclusion that the best solution to deal with the transmission of the disease is speed of implementation of measures:

The actual response strategy chosen made little difference compared with the time element.

Which of course makes me think that in any scale-free network the same principle would apply, that it matters less what is being done but the speed with which it is done.
Which would go to explain the success of Microsoft.
I would post a proof here, but the margins are too narrow.
