Fish web

Are you fish-eater? Go for the lower levels in the trophic chain, or become a thermometer full of mercury

Mahaffey recommends salmon, anchovies and shrimp, which all have "decent amounts" of omega-3 fatty acids and relatively low mercury levels. And she tells consumers to eat less "steak-like" fish. In other words, eating fish that themselves eat lower on the food chain is your best bet.

The best is to consume local, unless your state is particularly poisonous. Or to go completely vegan, but eating tofu turns Amazon jungle into food. Or to go organic, but even so you can get lots of pollutants in your body.

Happy lunch.

Are we gonna be able to eat ANYTHING without feeling ourselves guilty? First was the fat free invasion; then, they found out that fat was good but carbos evil so, welcome to Atkins ridiculous-heart-attack diet by which you can collapse your arteries with a Jumbo burger but please, get rid of the bum!. Now it is fish!!!! I'm sorry, but I eat what I want, I'm still thin, I'm healthy, and still -and forever- a follower of the Mediterranean diet so, I'M EATING as much fish as I want. It is more probable that we all die of the high level of pollution in the air due to the use of gas and oil because the economy needs to produce as many cars as possible, than dying of intoxication due to a mercurial tuna. And in any case, we are all gonna die! That's our destiny! Or do they think we are gonna be immortal by avoiding certain food every month of the year?
There is no limits for stupidity.

The important thing is not that we are going to die. That is a certainty.
What most concerns us is how are we going to die. How about withering slowly in a hospital bed, wasting away because of a cancer brought by ingesting dioxins with our daily Creepy McClown burger?
Besides, the risk is too real, specially for pregnant women. Tell an expectant mother to disregard the health of her baby. Is not death that scares us, but a hindered life.

Death hurts anyway. Whatever form of dying, you suffer. And maybe you decide to stop eating fish all your life and suddenly go into the waters of a wonderful beach and a white shark bites you shaking your body to and fro until you lose your consciousness because of so much pain and them, he eats you up. How are you gonna control what you die of?

I do agree, but you would make the news after the shark attack, but nobody cares if you choke on mercury.
So, shark=cool, mercury = not cool.

Or, for geekier friends, Hg != 0 K

Perhaps I should change the name of the blog to Mercurial Shark, and its tag line, to "One way or the other, you are dead."

Ugh. Long day.
