Travel Round the World
In this post I put up the idea of traveling all around the world, and Nicole said yes!
OK, five years from now (so we can get in shape and start saving and get time off work): Start going west, so we can meet Nicole; from there we will go to NZ, jumping to all little tigers Thailand, Indonesia (and check on Arthur C Clark), Vietnam, Laos, China, small sojourn to Tibet and back gain in order to take the Trans-Siberian Rail, then off to Moscow, St Petersburg, walking to Finland, Sweden and Norway, taking a ferry to Germany and going the usual West Europe route, France, Andorra to do our mountain shopping, Spain (Alhambra, Sevilla and Barcelona a must), Portugal because Vejadu said so, traveling south to Italy and from then to Turkey, old Constantinopolis beckoning, Greece baby, cradle of our modern way of thinking, and then time and war permitting, Iraq and Iran. How to go from there to Africa seems tricky, but we can consider the possibility that there are going to be flights, or in the worst of cases, a merchant vessel in the Mediterranean to take us back to Spain and from then on to Morocco, so we can visit Mustafa. Proceeding south, you can imagine your own Kalahari or Sahara, but I am tired and thirsty, so I will stop for a while at Kenya, to gather thoughts and count the rest of my money. Finally, stopping at South Africa, not for diamonds but because Mandela.
Now, did you know that you can get very cheap prices for a flight from Johannesburg to London? Yes indeed! The whole UK in 20 euros a day, for a little while, and then using that hub that is Heathrow to travel to Brazil. Yes, baby! Carnival, dancing, everybody wears condoms please, and please yes get in the Escola do Samba so we can play the drums. We can placidly drift to Argentina, and cross the Andes to get to Chile, go up the coast from Arica to Arequipa, then Ecuador and the Galapagos (only $1000) and finally Colombia! I don't know about it, perhaps we skip it. Caribbean up north, through Panama, and son in Cuba, merengue in Dominicana, salsa in Puerto Rico, but I insist on stopping in Chichen Itza and Teotihuacan, and finally resting in NY or SFO.
Then off to the airport to take pictures and say goodbye to Nicole, write a book and a play, live happily ever after from the proceedings from both.
Sounds like a plan?

Hasn't Clarke lived in Sri Lanka since 1956?

Definitely. You are invited as well, because you have this eye for detail :)
And Sri Lanka it is.

But we can't leave out the Pacific islands! THey are some of my favourite countries in the whole wide world!! Tonga, Samoa, FIji, Cook Islands..Island hopping all the way :)
And maybe if there's not too much fighting going on, we could chance it to the middle east. lol
i didn't realise you had this whole trip planned out Camilo. Though it may need a few revisions along the way!!!

Oh, you know, this is an open source intinerary: as of now, you are officially designed our Pacific Islands and Oceans Traveling Expert.
Anybody now Joi Ito, so we can crash in his house in Japan?

Liz - I didn't actually KNOW this itinerary Camilo had planned till a couple of days ago. Somebody mentions the word 'travel' - i'm there in an instant!
Camilo - i think we need to fit in Romania somewhere....need to trace my paternal roots!
As for Tonga - no problemo re accommodation - i have a whole village of people who would be willing to host us! lol

As you all can indeed realize, there is still a lot of planning involved, mainly on itineraries and places. Clark lives in Sri Lanka, Tonga and Romania are a must-visit, visas are going to easily in the order of $3000, and we definitely want to do the Trans-Siberian on summer. Any ideas? Plus, we can stay with Stu!
