Stephens' Tree

The Stephens' tree in Panama was a huge tree, 5 to 6 yards in diameter at the base, covered in epiphytes and located close to the "Ahorca Lagarto" station, a tree that John Lloyds Stephens, one of the first builders of the Panama Railroad, ordered to be preserved. Later on, when the Gatun was flooded, the tree disappeared.
