Naked dead women
Prentiss was wondering whether to place nude pictures of women in his house, with all that that implies, and the possible weird looks fro people going there.
I remember, though, that growing, we had a picture by Alejandro Obregón, that showed the mutilated body of a dead woman, in a very abstract way. The Violence, it was called, and it was a reminder of a rough period of the recent history of Colombia, one still raw in my parent's memories, and that still grated at our collective consciousness.
My brothers and I understood the origin of that, even though we were kids, and tried hard not to forget.
I disliked that picture, but finally came to understand that, as art, it was the sublimated expression of all the pain and sorrow brought by the political hate and war that wrecked the country.
In trying to draw the parallel with naked pictures, though, I acknowledge the same: we are going to see an abstract image, a representation of beauty and another perception of what we see daily.
As a matter of fact, I am getting some nude paintings for my apartment. The world is dreary enough, and I do need a reminder of the beauty that still exists out there.

I am a 24 year old women . I have always felt that I will die young in a sexual incounter. Interesting , And I think your right . When we were in Paris last year, we stumbled into a small art gallery . Amoung the work were several prints of young dead women , they really struck us so we purchased 6 my wife hung them in our game room . Our friends find them erotic and enjoy looking at them . So who is to say ?

Camilo, when I browse my referrer logs you wouldn't believe the small but steady stream of hits I get from people who arrived via this entry in your blog.
Sex and death have always been linked but personally I'm not comfortable with the connection and probably wouldn't choose to put erotic representations of the dead in my home. Maybe I'm just like an arachnophobe cringing at the thought of someone else's pet tarantula. To each his or her own (shudder).
So, Camilo, what nude pictures did you end up hanging in your apartment?
