Histology
In our absolutely media oriented culture, any subject can be made compelling and attractive, provided you have the right presentation.
Go check Histology World flash intro.
I am hiring these people!!

UPDATE: I know, I know! I was being sarcastic at the generic use of images and sound in this presentation. At first, I thought it was a mock site or similar, making light of the use of Flash and its usage to promote everything. Then I realized they were serious!
It could have been proctology and have the same presentation, nopbody would have noticed the difference.
Comments
I have read a lot of criticism about my flash introduction. These comments are obviously written by those who are clueless as to the goal of this site. Some of these comments come from people who are so ignorant, that they openly claim to not even know what histology is...but nonetheless, they blatantly criticize the means that this site achieves its goals.
The reality is that histology can be a very difficult subject for students to master. It can take hours and hours of studying to learn to distinguish a peripheral nerve from collagenous fibers or to be able to know the histologic difference between the fundic region and the pyloric region. For many students, histology can be tedious, dry and difficult.
The main conceptual goal behind this site (including the tongue-in-cheek flash intro) is not to actually teach histology (although there is ample material presented to learn from) but rather to achieve an intangible ideal.....it is a site for students to come to after hours and hours of looking in a microscope and studying....a site for them to come to and play...and in the process of having fun, to gain motivation and enthusiasm for the prospect of learning histology.
Those critical of the brazenness of the flash introduction are either so far removed from their field of expertise on Histology-World! or they have an extremely rigid way thinking. They are unable to comprehend the nexus between a loud, obnoxious, fun, humorous, and colorful flash introduction and a site where you can send your loved one a birthday card with a sudoriferous gland on it.
They are truly arrogant: they profess to know the best way to use a flash introduction, yet they totally miss the goal of this site; in actuality they are flaunting their ignorance, broadcasting fact that they are unable to see and understand what the goal of this site is, nor how the flash introduction helps achieve that goal.

Ah, defensiveness. The new disclaimer is a bit much.
Having studied and enjoyed histology myself in both undergrad and graduate school, I'm well aware of the need to present histology in an enticing manner, since it seems most kids these days don't have the patience or love of learning to dig into the subject on its own merits.
The site's content is great. Unfortunately, the intro is really, truly awful. It is.
