Malena
The Beautiful Monica Bellucci, however, has appeared in more poignant and profound movies. As an example, Malena, from Giuseppe Tornatore, shows how beauty, hope, innocence are destroyed by war, how that which we cherish simply vanishes, from our most superficial beauty to our most deeply held convictions.
Ol' Joe may show a little bit of hope in this film, though, a subtle understanding that, after the war, we may return head on high, all transgressions and humiliations forgotten.
Sadly, most of the time, that is not the case.
