Vonnegut and PPs
It is a tad late that I link to this interview with Kurt Vonnegut, but here it is:
I myself feel that our country, for whose Constitution I fought in a just war, might as well have been invaded by Martians and body snatchers. Sometimes I wish it had been. What has happened, though, is that it has been taken over by means of the sleaziest, low-comedy, Keystone Cops-style coup d’etat imaginable.
Yes, we have absconded from our responsibility on this war. The opinion of a few warmongers leads us all to the most stupid undertaking in the history of humanity, and meanwhile we remain passive spectators, happily and sedately accepting whatever the assassins from the White House throw our way.
And by the way, although it has not been proved that Saddam effectively gassed the Kurds, it is known beyond a doubt that, when Bush was Governor of Texas, there were 156 executions.
There you have it. He kills his own people. Let’s take him out of power.
